Vermilion Circle - Kareem Rizk

A yellow block with a black-striped edge sits on a coral ground, and over it lies a pale sage shape with a vermilion circle at its centre. A red-orange rectangle shows through underneath, and a strip of turquoise runs down the left side. Every layer keeps its torn edge and its worn, chalky surface.

Built as a collage of torn and cut paper, old print and painted shapes, layered so that every edge and worn surface stays visible. Kareem Rizk is an Australian collage and mixed media artist who lives and works in Denmark, building densely layered works from re-purposed printed ephemera, with a background in graphic design and a long-standing affinity for typography. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
